can i put a siamese fighting fish in with myother comunity fish?do i need an aussie licence for one?

i want to get a siamese fighting fish but want to know if i can stick it in with all my other fish (angel guppies danios tetras so on) i know they are very aggressive with other malesbut will they eat my other fish? or should i just stick it in another tank? And do i need a liscence to own a sff in australia?

betas (siamese fighting fish) can be kept in a community tank as long as the other fish do not have large bright fins, like fancy guppies.

i have never heard that you would need a license to keep a betta before
anyway, no i wouldn’t recommend putting a betta with the setup you have
it’s not the betta that will do the most damage, but your angels will go after him
and he will go after the guppies if you have males in there
you can put him with any kinda fish that’s not longfinned as example stay away from male guppies, serpae tetras, longfinned danios,….
also stay away from tiger barbs, unless you keep them in a group no smaller then 6 of them

yes you can,1 only please if its a male.
about the bettas going after other long finned fishes, the long finned bettas are not really aggressive fighters, in thailand(siam) the best fighters are the short finned wild types. are you telling me that if you put a long finned betta in with a short finned one that the long finned one is not gonna fight? i dont think so. what triggers the betta to fight is not the fins but the behavior.
about license, i wouldnt know but probably not

I don’t know about the license, but when I keep a Betta in a comunity tank, I make sure he is the first resident in there, so that the tank is HIS tank, otherwise, your other fish will pick on the Betta’s pretty fins.
It is much easier, and better on the Betta, to keep him in a one to two gallon jar of water.
Change 20% of the water every couple of days. Do not use filtration or a bubbler, they like still water. Use a ‘fish only’ turkey baster to suck the gunk out of the bottom of the jar.
Betta’s are MEAT eaters, you can keep a plant in there to be pretty, but feed him bloodworms, tiny bits of shrimp, prepared meat type fish foods, tiny pellets and the like.

I’ve put them in with other fish . It’s OK if the aquarium is large enough (45 gal /high in my case ) , and the other fish aren’t the sort that will tear up the betta’s fins . It helps if there are several “rooms” that can provide some (imaginary/momentary ) separation .
The danios and tetras (which?) might be a problem . If it’s black tetras , I wouldn’t do it . They’re tough on any frilly fins .
