Yes, most fish can survive without food for a week give or take a couple of days.
But maybe try to get a fish sitter while your gone. Or if you can’t afford to feed your fish, maybe sell it for money or eat it for dinner.

i used to have one that lived for 4 years and when i went on vacation for a week no one fed it, so yes it can go a week

their stomachs are the size of their eyeball. so they dont need to eat a lot but 7 days is probably too long. call a pet store, see if they have anything

no those kinds of fish need to be fed like every other day
i had a blue one and forgot to feed it for 3 days and it died.
I bet it can go longer then that. It depends on the health of the fish. Will it live? Yes, but it will be starving. Their are slow release food blocks available. Aslo, I don’t know if they eat vegitation at all, but you could put in some live plants for it to nipple on if they do eat plants.

I’d say that your betta would be ok…I’m not sure I’ve seen a more resilient fish than a betta.
Feed the fish right before you leave and do a water change when you get back.

yeah, but its inhumane. if you have a filter, go get one of those self-feeder blocks (cheap, but usually dont work well) or, preferably, an automatic feeder =]
I never have. I went on vacation a week ago and had my neighbor feed my betta fish. Do not try to make your fish go a week without eating, it would probably die.

how would you like to go 7 days without eating? of course they can do it, but that doesnt mean they should. no fish should be left that long.
if you are going out of town, i would just go to the local pet store and purchase a 7 day feeding block for bettas. it sits at the bottom of the tank and he can pick peices of food off of it when he is hungry. this is what i do when i go out and cant feed him.
rumor will tell you that bettas need only little bits of food, but this doesnt keep the fish healthy. this makes him more suceptable to disease because he is malnurished. bettas should be fed at least 1 time a day.
Hope this helps.

I had a beta fish from the time I was 4 to the time I was 9 and I never went ONE day without feeding her. You know how they say to feed them every other day? That’s bull because some of my friends and a cousin all had beta fish and they lived anywhere from 6 months-2 years while mine lived 5. The maximum life span is supposed to be about 3 years but mine lived so much longer probably because I didn’t starve the poor thing. There is no way you can go that long without feeding it, you’ll either need to take it with you or have someone come over to check on it.

Just feed him a bunch right before you leave and set out a few weekend or vacation feeders. Even if they only last a few days (which they will last longer), that still takes the time down from 7 days to 4 or 5 days, which is fine. He will be hungry when you get back, and you should obviously feed him, but he will be fine. I have done it many times before, and my betta is now 4&1/2 years old.
Also, an automatic feeder would be great, but if your tank contains only a betta, the feeder will likely put too much food in the tank and make it really messy.

it will be ok. ask neighbor or someone to feed it, if they can. beta fish can go to up to 2 weeks without food.

You can buy vacation gel feeders quite cheap. Try one of those.

You want to get it killed huh??
7 days without food is really on LUCK! If you are lucky enough, it will survive.
Just go to pet store. Get a kind of food for people going on a vacation. I saw those pack last week while purchasing a new betta. =) Hope you will find it!!
Hey it is absolutely fine to keep ur fish without food for 7 days. It can even stay for longer. 7 days is not a big period. I can say this confidently since i keep bettas. But still if u have doubt feed him with worms before leaving, and keep some live worms in the tank if ur tank is big or else the water may get spoiled and the fish may die. Infact i have read earlier that u must keep bettas away form food for couple of days to prevent him from putting extra fats.
Refer the site for information below
. Again that does not mean that you should not feed your bettas with punctuality.
How long can a betta live without eating? I am not sure exactly how many days, but what I do know is that they can survive without food for a long time. I had a sick betta who ate a half a live worm once a week and lasted three month that way. I know that bagged bettas have been reported to have survived in their sealed bags up to three weeks. So I guess, what I am trying to say is, if you are leaving on a week-end trip and won’t be home to feed your betta for 3 days, don’t sweat it. He won’t starve or anything

What you need is an automatic feeder. No, and fish cannot go seven days without food. It’d make them sick, and most fish would die from it.

They will be ok

If your betta is in excellent health then yes it can go 7 days without eating. Before you do go out of town do a pretty good water change so that its water stays relatively healthy until you can return.

Yes a betta fish can go a week with out food. (thats part of what you have to do to breeding bettas). If you want to leave food behind for him when you leave, I strongly suggest against it. This is because leaving food in the tank will (could but this is what I know about from experience) become moldy(green STUFF growing on the tank walls) and kill or become harmfull to your betta. That also goes for any other fish. From now till you leave i suggest feeding as much food as your fish can take. That is the way you prepare for breeding the bettas so that they can go the week or more without food. And no for your bettas I wouldn’t worry about getting someone to watch them, they will do fine. (if you feed them lots before hand, and even then it might not be a problem.)
I agree all the way with the Mr.Cool dude, your betta WILL be fine.
