How do I sneak a beta fish into my dorm?

I go to college and none of the dorms are allowed to have pets, not even fish. All my roomie and I want is a beta fish. Nothing extravagant, a small fish bowl/tank. Does anyone have any suggestions of sneaking one in my dorm although we have room inspections (and our ID has to be checked everytime we come into the building)?

then turn them around when you get home. Like fake book ends.

depending on your monitors they usually have no ideas as they scan a zillion rooms… I went to a dorm in Hawaii and did it too!!! BOO HOO thumbs down but best way to deflect is to present the obvious? Understand? Youngsters think they invented this stuff or what?!

Is a beta fish really worth all the trouble and hassles when you get caught? And also the poor fish – it is a living creature that doesn’t deserve to be killed over someone’s selfishness. I suggest you wait until you live somewhere it’s legal. Put that extra energy into your degree!

That shouldn’t be too hard. Just buy the beta and leave it in the baggie it comes in. Put in in your purse take in into your room. Do the same for all the other stuff. Just keep it in your room. ANd if you know you’re RA will be going into your room just put it in the closet. I don’t see the big deal in having fish in your room. NO damage done….

Beta’s can be housed in almost anything- like a coffee pot! However, it is better to have them in a small tank with a filter but if you go to pet stores they are usually in teeny cups they seem to be pretty resilient.
They live in puddles and shallow rivers in the wild. Be humane though if you keep them in a coffee pot (obviously just a pot, not on a burner) make sure they have rocks and you keep their water clean.

well…here they sell bettas in small plastic cups. I suppose you could set that cup in a bigger empty cup with a lid, and put a straw in it so it just looks like a drink (as long as you only keep him in there just to get him up to your room), but bettas should be in atleast a 5 gallon tank. They sell hexagon shaped tanks that take up less room, but i’m not sure where you’d hide that.
Lord people, stop being so uppity about it. Theyre not going to make her kill her fish if she gets caught. The most theyre going to do to the fish is force her to find someone to take it. It’s not the huge deal that you’re all making it out to be. She’s obviously aware that she could get caught and is willing to live with those consequences. Its not such a horrible thing to want a pet you know.

Sneaking it in is the easy part. Put it and the water in a plastic baggie and put it in your purse or back pack.
If you know when you have room inspections then hide the sucker when they come in.
Or, put it in a glass of water that looks like it should be drunk.
I don’t think they will kick you out over a friggin fish.

Well, if your going to do it anyway, even though you shouldn’t, then here are some pointers. One, beta fish don’t need constant oxygen into their water, so you can put one in a watertight bag and keep it in your jacket pocket. Take a small fish-bowl (like what they have them in in wal-mart) in a box or bag of other stuff. Make sure to get water dechlorinator and food. Add the dechlorinator to the water and follow directions. Change the water for the fish every few days. Keep it out of sight when you are gone (in a desk or dresser) And do not let anyone else see it. If you follow this, you should be fine.

How most people do it, is get a plant vase, that big on the bottom, stick a plant in it, and some pebbles, and then put your beta fish in it.

DON’T! You’re going to get caught and be forced to give it up and then what will you do with it? Don’t be so selfish. Think of the poor life of the creature that you’re putting in this position. i would love to have a dog and/or a cat, but my apartment doesn’t allow pets and I’m mature enough to follow the rules for the sake of the animal. Grow up and follow the rules.

to look like a house plant. last but not least paint 3/4 of the vase black or a dark solid color so you can turn the clear part toward

the easy part is bringing the fish in, i went away to school also where we werent allowed any pets, in my four yrs there i had a beta and two rats in a big cage, never got caught. get a small tank or vase if u dont want to risk it, and when they say its insecption week put it under ur bed when your in classes and im sure you can put other stuff to block it under there. thats what i used to do with my rats, i would even put them in my purse for fire alarms when we had to leave. pretty sure they wont inspect ur room hardcore, just make sure u do feed it daily twice a day not like the pet stores every two days or w/e. they need to be fed twice, i have had mine for two yrs i feed it twice 5/6pellets but every beta differs, just watch him if he spits it out stop feeding
