Just wondering, if a lake is being privately stocked with “baby” fish, how long would it take for these particular fish to grow into the size the government has said they are ok to keep if you are fishing to keep them and not just practing catch & release?

Depending on where you live and what regulations your lake has and what fish your talking about.it could be anywhere from less than a year to a few years. Give us more info if you want a better answer.

Yeah, KCMJ, just cut them in half and count the rings.
Usually in a stocked pond the fish are being fed on a regular basis and do not need to forage. So, they reach a mature size in 3 years or less.

most fish are catchable by year one but tend to be too small for good eating most types of fish reach a good edible size three years after they are born although if the pond is being fed and not overstocked the fish will grow much much faster
