I have two gold fish and ones medium size and the other is tiny. I have a one gallon fish bowl, gravel, two fake plants and i put this stuff in it that is supposed to keep it clean longer but no filter. So how often should i clean it out?

    at least once per week……..

Oh, & people are gonna come & answer & say “your Tank is too small” & stuff…..Ignore them. I’d say your tank is pretty good

Goldfish get very large. They are being stunted if you have them in a bowl. Their outsides will look normal as they cease to grow past a certain point, but their insides will continue to grow at a normal pace (intestines, heart, etc.)

They will die generally within a year or two having their growth stunted.

Also, to the person above me, the tank is not “fine”, goldfish get big. They are also very messy.

Your tank is too small, and don’t ignore me. The person above doesn’t know what they are talking about. Get a new tank, get a filter, and do 25% water changes every week.

Goldfish grow big, and they tend to be messy. I suggest you to move them into a tank. A 1 gallon fish bowl is pretty small.
And it depends of how much they are feeding them and how much they waste.

You need to clean it every 3 days. Using a turkey baster to spot clean in between is also a good idea. Also, do not remove all the water only about 50% at any one time.

I know you aren’t going to want to hear this because everyone has already said something, 2 goldfish 2 plants in a bowl, not a good combination for healthy fish, really. there is nothing on the market that will “keep the tank cleaner longer”. If there is it doesn’t work. Only water changes will keep the tank clean. There are no Miracle chemicals that clean the tank for you.

goldfish are very hardy fish and can do OK with good or poor water quality although they will “appreciate” the former, they can handle the latter. So, you should clean it out as ofter as it starts to look bad. the fish will tell you, when you can’t see them it’s time to clean. sk
