I’m trying to get into fish for dietary reasons, and I’m just wondering if tilapia is a good fish to try for a beginner getting into it. Thank you.

Yes, Tilapia was acually about the only fish I would eat..no other fish. Its really good to batter it first then fry it and add some lemon juice on it when its done…oh so good!
Orange Roughy is like the steak of fish..its awsome, try that too!
Flounder is another good one with no real fish taste.
All 3 of those is a good one to get started with. They all taste good with lemon juice and collard greens go good with fish too.

they say that talapia was the fish used when Jesus served the loaves and the fishes to the people gathered to hear him preach.

Perfect choice. Very light, not fishy tasting. I recommend you pan fry in a little olive oil. Season the fish with garlic powder, pepper, salt and a little chili powder, very tasty. Enjoy.

Yeah, it is good.
Also try MAHI MAHI, cod, orange roughy, and other firm white fish.
Season with lemon and butter (or just lemon) or olive oil.

It’s a very mild fish and very good! I sometimes just sprinkle lemon juice on it and bake it or sometimes bread it and bake it. Easy to cook!

Tilapia is a very simple white fish that is cheap and can be combined with a number of different sauces and spices to create an amazing meal. It is also quite simple to cook.
My roommates and I used to host Friday Dinner at our apartment every other week. We would usually cook tilapia (unless salmon was on sale), find a marinade we could all agree on, and figure out some form of side dish.
I would suggest washing the fish, then rubbing in the spices you want. Afterward place it in a sealed bag with the marinade and put it in the fridge for about half to a whole hour. Place the fish in a skillet on about 4, depending on your oven and cook it for about 15 minutes, depending on the heat and the amount. Make sure you flip it over once it begins to turn a solid white and is easily breakable with a fork.
If you wish to continue trying fish, I am fond of salmon and tuna.

Yes, tilapia is a perfect beginner fish. Baked or fried with some broccoli, asparagus, or rice…yummy!!
