what fish can go in a small tropical fish tank?

Fish
I am getting a 1.5-2.5 gallon heated tank and was wondering what I could put in it. I was planning on getting a snail and some shrimp, but I’m not sure what type of fish to get. I know the schooling fish are out, so does that leave me with only the betta fish or an african dwarf frog?

Either a single betta, 1-2 african dwarf frogs, or possibly 2-3 ghost shrimp if you want to push it. The ghost shrimp would also do better with a cycled and heavily planted tank.

Oscars do great in 1.5 – 2.5 gallon tanks I hear. That is until they grow out of their fry stage lol
I agree with what the first person said. Good Luck

A beta is a great choice they are very colorful and active if the water has air moving in it.

no, you dont havto get a betta, you can get a few guppies, but only males because if you get both male and female you wont have any room for the babies, just get 3 males and a few snails, or platys, white clouds or betta

For such a tiny tank, I would recommend you to stick with the Betta and a snail.
Small aquariums should be used to treat sick fish, as a transition tank, for baby or pregnant fish, to grow plants, or to keep a single male Betta. These tanks are very unstable regarding water conditions and you should take that into consideration.
They can be used to enhance the appearance of any room, dorm, or office and they are a great choice for beginners.
That is teeny tiny, I would say go for some ghost shrimp and that’s it, no fish.
I would personally say that that volume is too little for even Bettas and Frogs, neither of which I would keep in any less than 5 gallons. Fish like Guppies, Platys, Minnows etc, all too active for such a tiny volume.
Presuming this is filtered also, go nano planted shrimp tank. Be sure the water parameters are stable. Snails like Apples get too large and are too messy for such a tiny tank.
So go for some java moss/java fern and a few ghosties.
