5 gallon tank is too small for dwarf gourami to live in let alone breed.

5 gallon tank is too small to breed any type of fish.

    Few guppies

  3. In a tank that small, the only things you would get to breed is live bearers like guppies and platys. If you do plan to breed fish in such a tiny tank, you will have to have another tank already set up (preferably much bigger than 5 gal) and cycled, ready for new fish. That way you will have somewhere to put the babies (or the parents if the small tank is going to be for the babies only). The adult fish will eat the babies if not separated. If you absolutely have to have larger fish, such as gourami, please consider starting with at least a 10 to 20 gal tank. Otherwise you will quickly over-stock the tank and you will lose fish due to water quality.

  4. guppies definitely. They are very easy to breed, small so 2 of them in a 5 gallon plus they are colorful and active.

You can’t breed any fish in a 5 gallon tank…
If you want to breed, you could probably raise the baby fish in there.

Get a 20 and 10 gallon tank, and you can breed guppies.

you can definitely, breed red cherry shrimp. because they are small, you can have 60+ in an 8 gallon. they are easy to take care and breed so you can also sell or trade them and make a big profit

If thats your only tank, then forget breeding fish. If you are successfull and end up with 50 small fish what are you going to do then?

If you have other tank, preferably bigger, then you can use it as a spawning tank for guppies etc or even breed White Cloud Minnows.

When I was breeding guppies I would just put the preggo female in my 5gal tank and leave her there untill she dropped the fry. Move female back to big tank and rear fry in the 5gal. Once they get too big for the 5gal, they can survive with the adults in the big tank.

Another time I had some White Clouds in the same tank and they bred quite often.

I have also spawned golden barbs in the 5gal and reared the fry.

But 8 gal is still small. You can use it for fry rearing or spawning small fish, but not if it’s the only tank you have.
