When you buy fish and hermit crabs at petco do you need your parents to come in?

Im planning on going into petco and buying some hermit crabs and some fish. Will petco let me buy the stuff with out my mom with me? Is there a certain age you have to be to buy fish and hermit crabs with out your parents? Will I have to Sign for the stuff?
Im also going to buying 2 african dwarf frogs.

I think you can buy fish by yourself but not hermit crabs.
You can probably buy the ADF’s by yourself, too.
I guess you can’t buy hermit crabs by yourself because they are usually harder to take care of than fish.

Depends on the individual store. It’s best to have your parents there just in case. 18 is the legal age for buying pets, but from what I’ve seen some stores ignore this law.

because sometimes kids buy pets because they are “cool” or “cute” and cant care for them properly (im not saying you will do this, im just saying some kids in general) or……….the kid comes home with a pet and the parents freak and yell at the store, threaten the store, and return the pet (thus the store loses money).
ive worked at a petco for about 4 years, and as far as it is stated in the petco rules, you must be 18 to buy any “companion” animal for any purpose. I believe you can buy crickets, fruit flies, mealworms, etc without a parent but anything else you need to be 18 or be with someone that is 18 or older.
If you find a petco that will sell you african dwarf frogs, or any other companion animal without someone that is 18 they can get in a lot of trouble. we have an agreement with PETA that says we will ensure that all animals go to loving caring and responsible pet owners and if they are selling them to underage kids a lot of those pets are going to be neglected and abused. Of course abuse and neglect happens with people older than 18, but less so.

Nope they bag everything up for you. and you bring it to the cashier and pay. Reptiles, or amphibians or birds, dogs and cats. you would probably need an adult to do that for you. But fish and hermit crabs… nope.
